An NGO, Youth Initiative for Peace and Development Multi-Purpose Cooperative (YIPD), has commenced sensitisation of residents of Kogi to safety and preventive measures against the Coronavirus pandemic. Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, the Executive Director of the organisation, Mr Lawrence Kyuka, said the exercise was part of the group’s Community Awareness & Advocacy Programme in the state.
Kyuka said the NGO was partnering with the State Ministry of Health to execute the project. According to him, the aim of the programme is to sensitise the people of the state to safety and preventive measures against the spread of the novel Coronavirus and other infectious diseases. He said people would be adequately sensitised to skills acquisition sanitation and healthy living. The executive director said plans were underway to implement the programme across the 21 local government areas of the state, assuring that all safety guidelines of the federal and state governments would be maintained. He commended the efforts of the Kogi COVID-19 Squadron Committee led by the State Deputy Governor, Mr Edward Onoja, at maintaining an effective and Responsive Team.
