In 2014, the UN General Assembly designated the 15th of July as World Youth Skills Day. World Youth Skills Day serves as an opportunity to highlight the importance of youth skills development. To Celebrate the 2015 World Youth Skills Day in Nigeria, the United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Lagos hosted Yes I believe Academy (YIBA), some skills trainers and students from Maryland Comprehensive junior school to a workshop on skills acquisition. The students were trained on soft furnishing, make-up artistry, bead making and shoe making. The trainers include Niyi Adekunle (President, YIBA), Nneoma Effanga (Make-up Artistry), Biodun Folawiyo (Shoe-making), Yetunde Ifebogun (Soft-furnishing) and Mrs Oreoluwa Solana (Ankara Accessories). At the end of the workshop, two students had the opportunity to improve their desired skill through a scholarship from Mr Biodun Folawiyo.
