World Environment Day is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme , and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world. The theme is focusing on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution
World Environment Day 2023 is a reminder that people’s actions on plastic pollution matters. The steps governments and businesses are taking to tackle plastic pollution are the consequence of this action. It is time to accelerate this action and transition to a circular economy. It is time to #BeatPlasticPollution. Plastic pollution is growing beyond human control. Urgent action is needed to contain and replace them with environment-friendly materials. World Environment Day 2023 is being hosted by the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, also known as Ivory Coast, in West Africa. The Netherlands will be its partner this year.
