About 185 #EndSARS victims in 23 hospitals across nine states have received a medical intervention fund that would help defray the medical bills of some of the hospitalised victims. Whitefield Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), acknowledged the receipt of financial support worth N20 million from Coca-Cola Nigeria and its bottling partners (NBC), saying that over the past weeks, it has processed over 900 requests nationwide, most of which were found to be unrelated to the #EndSARS incidents.
In all, it revealed that 185 patients being treated in 23 hospitals across nine states of Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Lagos, Edo, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Plateau and the FCT, Abuja, benefited from the intervention fund. Speaking on the intervention, the Chief Executive Officer, Whitefield Foundation, Funmi Johnson, said the patients were treated for various degrees of injuries, including gunshots, while amounts ranging from N10,000 to N300,000 were disbursed directly to the respective hospitals on their behalf. She also appealed to other corporate organisations and people of means to support NGOs to bring more relief initiatives to the helpless, as “the healthcare system in this nation needs all the help and support it can get.” Source: Guardian
