The day was first observed by Sherrita J. Herring in 2017 to support the nonprofit sector. It is observed to thank the nonprofit sector and highlight the positive impacts that these foundations have on society.
Each of them has a mission. Some look after children's education, some pay for patients' medication, and some engage in issues related to global warming. These charitable institutions benefit communities across the world. We should do everything in our capacity to support them and volunteer for them on this day.
