The Waziri Gobir Foundation adopts First primary school in Ilorin with N100 million development fund6/3/2020 The Waziri Gobir Foundation has offered to adopt the first primary school in Ilorin Emirate, Okesuna Local Government Education Authority School A and B, Ilorin. Speaking during an event marking the adoption of the school in Ilorin on Thursday, the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Waziri Yakub Gobir, said that the organization would provide N100 million for development of the school for the next five years. The school, founded in 1915, a year after amalgamation of Nigeria, has produced eminent personalities such as the father of the present Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Zulukarnaini Gambari, the current Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari, the grandfather of the founder of the foundation, who is the first Waziri of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammad Gobir, as well as father and uncles of Alhaji Waziri Yakub Gobir, among many other distinguished personalities within the last 105 years of establishment.
Alhaji Gobir, an illustrious son of Ilorin Emirate, said that it behoves on him to complement efforts of the state government and that of the teaching staff of the school at improving the standard of education in the state. Other advocacy needs are repair of school borehole, equipping of the computer room, science kits, the supply of ceiling fans, teachers, pupils furniture, welding of windows and doors, burglary of windows for securing classrooms, painting and flooring of classrooms, renovation of the chalkboard, among others.
