The Irede Foundation was established in Nigeria to inspire action so child amputees, their families and caregivers can live fulfilling lives through provision of prosthetic limbs, awareness campaigns and support groups. The foundation had their Out On The Limb (OOAL) walk in over 40 locations across Nigeria including Lagos State. The goal of the 2 kilometer walk was to raise awareness about the challenges that Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) face in society. The Irede Foundation partnered with different organizations for this advocacy walk including UPS, UAC Foods, Swan, Bella Naija, Feet of Grace Foundation, Nesis Media and Bornvita. These organizations showed up in various ways to ensure the Out On The Limb (OOAL) walk was a success.
NigerianNGO was able to interview Obafemi Ekundayo, a Programs Associate at the Irede Foundation and he said the Out On A Limb (OOAL) initiative is aimed at advocating for an inclusive society for amputees by improving accessibility and collaboration with the Government. NigerianNGO also spoke with Akinbolade Ayomikun from the UAC Foods Marketing team and he emphasized having organizations partner with NGOs such as Irede Foundation to drive impact and support Persons Living with Disabilities. The advocacy walk not only highlighted the plight of children living with disabilities but also encouraged the community to reach out and assist them. We applaud The Irede Foundation for their dedication to improving the lives of these vulnerable individuals and making Nigeria a more inclusive and supportive society.
