Health Circle Concept Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization, in partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has conducted a mental health awareness program for the youth in the Niger Delta region. The event, titled Mental Health Summit 2024, took place on Thursday in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. The summit, themed "Breaking the Silence: Uniting for Mental Wellness," emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups.
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, represented by his Senior Aide, Dr. Godwin Edozie, highlighted the critical need to educate the youth on mental health to promote a healthier society. Ebie noted, “Mental health is a global issue, and the NDDC finds it essential to raise awareness about mental health and wellness. Both external and internal factors contribute to mental health challenges today. I encourage regular doctor visits to monitor health status.” He added, “Many people are overworking and not taking adequate rest. This seminar aims to encourage people to take life easier, rest more, and support others in managing stress.” Mr. Jator Abido, the Convener and National Chairman of the Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide, praised NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and Chairman Ebie for their support of the program.
