This virtual event was hosted on Youtube by Debola Deji-Kurunmi of Visionary Compass Accelerator Program on the 29th of June, 2022 with John Obidi as the guest speaker. John Obidi is the founder of Head Start, a community of  aspiring thought leaders that exists to close the knowledge gap amongst professionals in Nigeria.
The host started by asking John Obidi to share how he handles the responsibility of stewarding his community of over 200,000 people.

He began by sharing what inspired him to start his community which was the desire to create a space where people who were looking to make impact could connect via social media and inspire and be inspired especially in a world that is heavily saturated with shallow and non beneficial content.

He basically built community and made it into a tool for global transformation.

John spoke about how to carve out a distinct voice for your community to help stand out through the noise. This can be done by having a clear philosophy for your community. He also shared the importance of enriching yourself to give even more to your community and not pour out of an empty cup.

On mistakes that he had made, he shared that he had failed to invest intentionally in growing the community by limiting his audience to just facebook. He encouraged community leaders to embrace other platforms like zoom for virtual events, bulk emails and so on. As a visionary, you have to be faithful to your tools.

He also mentioned that as community leaders and visionaries, you need to have staying power as the road is one that may often be walked alone, anticipating that your journey and path is yours and even though there is scope to learn from the journey’s of others, your journey is yours.

Overall, he encouraged participants to own their journeys and stay the course of their path, as each person’s story is unique.
