A non-governmental Organisation (NGO), Making a Difference (MAD), has honoured some eminent Nigerians that made significant contributions in their respective fields.
The ceremony was held during the unveiling of ‘Making a Difference’ by the 2022 winner of Mr. Nigeria International, Emmanuel Ajewole, which focused on correctional centre reforms in Nigeria.
Among those honoured was a member of the House of Representatives, representing Mushin Federal Constituency II, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, who received the top performer award.
Also, Managing Director of Funmi Ayinke Nigeria Limited, Dr. Funmi Waheed-Adekojo, was recognised for excellence and being an exceptional woman.
Other recipients include Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Shynebellz Photography, Shine Gabienu, for outstanding photographer.
Ajewole, who said his tenure as Mr. Nigeria International has come to an end, wants to use his platform to champion the cause of prison reform.
He lamented the alleged inhumane condition inmates face in Nigeria’s correctional facilities, stating that they need urgent attention.
Ajewole said that his interest in prison reforms started when he visited a correctional centre during his undergraduate years in the company of a friend, who had gone to visit a relative serving time there.
He said he was moved by the deplorable state of the inmates and inspired to make a difference.
He said he would use his platform to raise awareness about prison conditions and advocate reforms.
Ajewole, therefore, urged well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to partner with the MAD initiative to achieve desired results.
According to him, the NGO will make a difference in the lives of inmates, their families and society at large.
