To reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Nigeria, Jumia has partnered Audrey Pack on an exclusive breast feeding campaign. The Chief Executive Officer, Audrey Pack, Lilian Odim, said the initiative was to educate and support new moms and expectant mothers on the challenges they might face while nurturing their babies.
Odim spoke at a briefing to announce Jumia Baby Week and the inauguration of breast feeding rooms for nursing mothers.
She said, “My baby was born premature and nobody was there to give me the right information to manage the situation. I was worried and helpless but if I had the right support, it would have been easier on me and my baby.
She urged pregnant women and new mothers to register in hospitals to be able to receive free prenatal as well as antenatal materials that would be distributed by the organisation.
According to Jumia’s Marketing Project Manager, Mrs. Joy Hinmikaiye, who advised mothers to watch out for sub-standard baby products, the online platform will offer discounts on such items with free delivery in Lagos.
She said, “Many women often complain about buying inferior baby products, but this initiative is to ensure that they have access to genuine items from a trusted source. The ease of shopping online is what every new mom needs. We hope to reach over five million mothers across the country.”
