According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a founder is an individual who founds or creates. They are often the individuals who establish an idea or institution. The process of successfully creating and sustaining any idea or concept through to the process of full maturity is a daunting task for any one or group of people. Founders often have to create the system and infrastructure, get the right people, navigate through state and administrative bottlenecks where applicable. In the non profit space, this becomes harder as you need to get individual to buy into your vision as financial success is not the big picture.
Some of the challenges NGO founders face listed below:
In light of these challenges, how can you support an NGO founder in your life: 1. Financial support: For dreams not to remain dreams they need to be sponsored by resources. If you are in a position to financially support an NGO founder in your life, do so today, it will be a source of tremendous encouragement. 2. Recommend Resources: It might be a training opportunity or someone who may be the right fit for a role the founder in your life is looking to hire for; where you see resources that may be useful for the founder in your life send them their way. 3. Be their advocate: Talk about their vision whenever you have the opportunity to do so. Plug them into opportunities they may be a good fit for. 4. Words of encouragement: After being faced with a myriad of challenges out there, is a kind word or some encouragement. Where you are presented with the opportunity, be their shoulder to lean on. Check in on them often. Ask about projects they are working on. Show them you care. In all, we hope this drives you to extend a hand of kindness and support to as many non-profit founders you come across as theirs is not often an easy path. Source: Merriam Webster
