World Hepatitis Day (WHD) takes places every year on 28 July bringing the world together under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change. The theme for 2020 is ‘Find the Missing Millions’.
This theme was chosen because worldwide, 290 million people are living with viral hepatitis and are unaware. Without finding the undiagnosed and linking them to care, these lives will continue to suffer and eventually be lost. On World Hepatitis Day, 28 July, we encourage people from across the world to take action and raise awareness to find the “missing millions”. In 2016, every government in the world made a commitment to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030. With less than 10 years to go, progress is stalling and this a time to remind our various leaderships of the commitment they made collectively to eliminate the scourge of hepatitis.
