Donor Cultivation - Nonprofit Funding and Resource Mobilisation hosted by Nigerian Network of NGOs30/7/2022 The VIrtual event was hosted by Nigerian Network of NGOs on Wednesday, 29th June, 2022 and had Ndifreke Okwuegbunam who is the Director, Programs and Grants, ACT Foundation as the guest speaker. ;The event started with an expanded definition of donor cultivation. It was defined as a process of relationship building with donors that are in a position to provide advisory,financial and even hardware support to ensure that consistent and even increased giftings form these donors.
She also shared what Donor Cultivation is not. According to her “Donor cultivation is not fundraising. It will enhance your fundraising and will have an effect on it in the long term, but it is not fundraising”. She also expanded on the process of donor cultivation which was broken down into these three steps listed below: 1. Build a relationship. 2. Engage with your prospect. 3. Understand their focus Strategies for building and Sustaining relationships with donors were also shared. These strategies include: 1.Learn what motivates donors to give. 2.Strengthen your online presence. 3.Cultivate donor trust on your organisation 4.Request for feedback on your organisation via donor surveys. 5.Get your donor involved. 6.Let the donor see the impact being made. After the presentation, Ms Ndifreke then went on to open the floor to take questions from participants. Source: NNNGO
