Campus Torch Tour III: OOU Students Got Inspired!

Held at tertiary institutions nationwide, The campus torch tour is aimed at inspiring Nigerian students to be creative with their skills and brilliance and as a result connecting them with organization where they can be well polished, utilized and appreciated.

​This event was not just a gathering in, it was indeed a sending out – a time to challenge and liberate Nigerian students to get out of their comfort zone to achieve their full potentials at the Olabisi Onabanjo University’s Auditorium, onto the crannies of Ago-Iwoye and other neighboring campuses Babcock University, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta amongst others.
 
Interviewed by BattaBox TV, OOU Connects, Noize.Ng and other media, Taiwo and Kehinde Ogunde, founders Campus Torch, explained that the tour has over the years inspired students to explore their ideas in different fields of study, but this year is focused at connecting the inspired students to organizations where their skills can be well polished, utilized and appreciated, they said’, the tour initiative is a legacy for all students, which emphasized the urgency of being creative as this will go a long way in reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.

“We are still on the move, we need to get out and rediscover the essence of studentship, the ability of being brilliantly creative,” said the twins, addressing not only the audience at OOU but also a worldwide audience that was following the event online through a live stream.
 
They emphasized the importance of Campus Torch giving platforms to exceptional students to explore their skills and brilliance consequently inspiring the ‘not-so-exceptional’ students to be outstanding in their diverse fields, as well as serving as a bridge between students and organizations that polish, redefine and employ exceptional youth. “What is the essence of being exceptional if there are no opportunities to explore ones’ ideas?” They said, talking about the many graduates who are yet to find a platform to explore their skills, “we are set to find a solution to that.”
 
The twins spoke about Campus Torch’s potential that is yet to be fulfilled. “We are currently reaching 28 institutions nationwide with our magazines, mobile app and video documentaries, but we desire to reach even more around Africa – importantly – in so many grass-roots campuses. With the right support, it’s incredible to think what we can achieve.”

​Describing the vision of Campus Torch that is depicting youth and students in a good light, and giving hope to those who still choose to be productive the right way,” the founders laid down the challenge to all students to make use of the ready resources around them and get creative while inspiring others to do the same… “We can’t wait to inspire the rest of the world with your stories”. They concluded.
 
The event also included viewing a number of video documentaries, inspiring the students with their success stories of exceptional young minds: Celebrity actor Olumide Oworu, Athlete Victor Peka, Software Developer Kehinde Ogunde and Legal Practitioner Kenneth Okwor.
 
There were live music performances from young and rising stars, Abolade Bobby, JFK and many others.
