On the 23rd of November 2019, Beibei Haven Foundation held the 4th edition of her annual fertility walk themed “A walk to remember” at Muri Okunola park, Lagos. The walk was aimed at creating awareness about infertility and the arising complications. This year’s event was focused on individuals who have been affected by pregnancy loss. The event commenced with a workout session by 7:30 am in preparation for the walk and was hosted by Olanrewaju Gregory. After the work out session was the walk which lasted for 40 minutes and covered the Victoria Island – Ikoyi section of Lagos. The walk itself was a lively and simultaneously educating activity. The participants danced to upbeat music from the escort vehicle while waving placards that had educative statements printed on them. After the walk, the Founder of Beibei Haven Foundation, Tade Shadare came up to give a remark and she introduced a lady who shared her story of pregnancy and child loss. The event concluded with a balloon release in memory of babies lost, where mothers who had lost babies released a balloon in honor of each child. Participants also wrote down touching tributes on the memorial wall in memory of the babies that were no longer with us. NigerianNGO was able to speak to some of the participants and hear what they had to say about the event. First time mum, Bolaji Sekoni who heard of the event through the founder described the event as a means of creating a safe haven for women who experienced some form of stigma after losing a pregnancy or baby. Oluwatoyin Onigbanjo, the founder of August Secrets described the event as a platform to give women a voice and reduce stigmatization.
