Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the distribution of second round of palliatives to the people across the 31 LGAs of the State. The exercise which is part of measures by Governor Udom Emmanuel towards cushioning the harsh economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the people has witnessed the distribution of various food items including garri, rice, flour and noodles to the people in the state.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Sir Charles Udoh made this known while flagging off the distribution of the palliatives to the people of Uyo Local Government Area. Sir Charles Udoh reiterated that the distribution formula of the palliatives is through the use of village structure, emphasized that the gesture is in line with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s continued determination towards ameliorating the excruciating hard conditions faced by the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable citizens in villages occasioned by the lock down of the economy. The palliative distribution taking place simultaneously in all the 31 LGAs of the state is Supervised by the different LGA Palliative Distribution Committees constituted during the first round of the exercise.
