Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) has partnered with Union Bank for the third consecutive year, to empower fifty (50) girls from various regions across Nigeria in the Ninth edition of the Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement, and Development (LEAD) Camp which took place from Monday, July 9th – Saturday, July 14th in Lagos. The mission of LEAD Camp is to inspire and empower young girls to become high-achieving women leaders. This addresses Social Development Goal 5: Gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. In order to achieve this, the participants of the LEAD camp are taken through series of activities which include leadership workshops administered by HOD Consulting Inc., empowering discussions with leading women from the private and public sectors in Nigeria; conceptualization, development and implementation of group projects serving the needs of girls in Nigeria (achievement sessions); and self-development sessions that address critical areas such as sexual reproductive health, personal hygiene, etiquette and character education.
LEAD Camp 2018 featured three LEAD Camp alumni namely Nkechi Eze (2005 LEAD Camp alum) who moderated the ‘Women in Creative Arts & Entertainment’ panel, Oduolayinka Osunloye (2003 LEAD Camp alumna) who moderated the ‘Women in Technology’ panel and Orode Uduaghan (2003 LEAD Camp alumna) who spoke at the Press Conference. Similarly, panel speakers Kene Rapu and Timoni Akindolie are both alumni of JAN programs having participated in the JAN Company Program while in secondary school. Source: BellaNaija
