Ovarian cancer, a life-threatening condition, develops when abnormal cells in the ovaries or fallopian tubes grow uncontrollably. Common symptoms include pelvic or abdominal pain, bloating, early satiety (feeling full quickly), loss of appetite, abnormal vaginal discharge or bleeding (especially post-menopause), changes in bowel habits like diarrhea or constipation, abdominal enlargement, and frequent urination. Ovarian cancer symptoms often go unnoticed, leading to late diagnoses.
World Ovarian Cancer Day, held each year on May 8 since its founding in 2013 by the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition (WOCC), serves as a critical global platform to raise awareness, promote education, and advocate for better care and support for those affected.

The theme for 2025, “No Woman Left Behind,” reinforces WOCC’s multi-year campaign to spotlight the unique challenges faced by ovarian cancer patients worldwide and to push for equal access to diagnosis, treatment, and care.

The 2025 theme underscores the urgency of ensuring no woman faces ovarian cancer without support or access to care. World Ovarian Cancer Day promotes global awareness, education, and advocacy.
