Bishop Francis Wale Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, and his wife, Reverend (Mrs) Victoria Oke, marked the 40th posthumous anniversary of their daughter, Dorcas Oluwaseyitanfunmi Oke, by empowering 40 youths through the Dorcas Oke Hope Alive Initiatives (DOHAL) foundation. Each youth received N100,000 and skill acquisition training, alongside the unveiling of a new facility to further the foundation's mission. The commemorative events included an annual public lecture at Precious Cornerstone University in Ibadan, themed “The Challenges of the African Child.” Notable attendees included Professor Dapo Asaju, former Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, former CEO of Flutterwave, and Bishop Mike Bamidele.
Professor Asaju’s lecture, titled “African Youths: Leaders of Tomorrow or Leaders from Today,” urged the youth to take leadership roles, drawing parallels with historical figures such as Joseph, Daniel, and Martin Luther King Jr. Aboyeji stressed the importance of integrating leadership and entrepreneurship into education, advocating for qualities such as resoluteness, responsibility, resourcefulness, resilience, and non-relentlessness in African children. He encouraged youth to embrace leadership opportunities proactively. Source:TRIBUNE NG
