On April 12th, The Irede Foundation held its annual Out On A Limb 2025 walk, themed “Full Access, No Cap!” This powerful advocacy event brought together a vibrant community of changemakers and supporters to amplify the voices of persons living without limbs and push for true inclusion. The walk kicked off bright and early across over 20 states in Nigeria, with passionate participants marching in unity to break down barriers faced by people with disabilities. Each location echoed one resounding message, Full Access, No Cap.
After the walk, participants converged at YMCA, where Mr. Bassey, Manager of the United Parcel Services (UPS) Foundation, shared his excitement about being part of the movement. He emphasized UPS's pride in supporting impactful events like this. Mr Kunle Akinkugbe, Chairman of The Irede Foundation Nigeria Board of Trustee, also shared heartfelt words, expressing joy at the growing support and community spirit that continues to fuel the foundation’s mission. This year’s walk was made possible by the generous support of several partners, including BellaNaija, Swan, Chivita, Gala, IHS, Iredians, UPS, TVC, Tripoint Travel, Nesis Media, INDWELT, ALMA, YMCA, LOOM, and many more who stood shoulder to shoulder with the cause. In an interview with NigerianNGO, Crystal Chigbu, Executive Director of The Irede Foundation, thanked everyone who made Out On A Limb 2025 a success. She explained the meaning behind this year’s theme: “Full Access, No Cap” a bold declaration that there should be no limits for persons with disabilities. This year, the foundation is focused on empowering children and young people with disabilities through leadership, ensuring they face no barriers to success. Their 2025 goal is to give 200 children new limbs and provide them with psychological support. That’s a mission valued at ₦400 million, and The Irede Foundation is calling on everyone to join the movement. One way to support is through their Power of Three Campaign, a monthly commitment of ₦3,000 / $3 / £3 that helps fund prosthetic limbs for children in need. The Irede Foundation continues to champion the cause of disability inclusion through powerful advocacy like this walk. Out On A Limb 2025 left a lasting impression, breaking barriers, sparking hope, and driving real change.
