The Plateau State Government, in collaboration with Sight Savers International and the Health and Developmental Support Programme, has successfully provided free eye care services to over 250 individuals with disabilities. The two-day initiative, which concluded on Sunday, was held at the General Hospital in Shendam Local Government Area as part of the Plateau State Eye Health Programme.
Dr. Joshua Yibenu, Programme Officer for Eye Health at Sight Savers International, highlighted that the programme's goal is to develop a comprehensive, affordable, and sustainable eye care system in Plateau State. He praised the state government for its support and emphasized the importance of hiring additional healthcare professionals and retaining experienced ophthalmologists to ensure the programme’s long-term success. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the services provided.
