PANDUS Helping Hands Foundation Launches Menstrual Hygiene Campaign for 400 Students in Abuja24/7/2025 In a bid to sustain awareness around menstrual hygiene beyond the global observance in May, PANDUS Helping Hands Foundation has launched a targeted outreach programme, reaching over 400 students in two government secondary schools within the Federal Capital Territory. The campaign, which took place at Government Secondary School, Wuse, and Government Secondary School, Mabushi, is part of the NGO’s ongoing efforts to promote menstrual health education among adolescents, particularly those in underserved communities.
Speaking during the outreach, the Foundation’s Volunteer Project Director, Mr. Abutu Abraham, emphasized that menstrual health education should not be confined to a single month. During the sessions, students were engaged in discussions on menstrual hygiene practices, debunking myths around menstruation, and the importance of access to sanitary products. Mr. Abraham noted that the programme is entirely self-funded and not supported by any government ministries or donor agencies. While commending the impact made so far, he highlighted the urgent need for wider institutional support. PANDUS Helping Hands Foundation is calling on stakeholders in the public and private sectors to prioritize menstrual health as a fundamental aspect of public health and gender equality. The foundation’s initiative underscores the growing recognition that consistent menstrual hygiene education is essential to empowering young girls, reducing stigma, and fostering healthier school environments.
