 The Nikki Udezue Foundation has empowered 40 widows in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, with cash grants and essential items under its Udoh Widow Empowerment Programme (TUWEP), aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting economic independence Sponsored by the Udoh family in memory of their late mother, Mrs. Patience Friday Udoh, to mark the fourth anniversary of her passing, each beneficiary received a ₦30,000 cash grant, food items, clothing, shoes, bags, detergents and other household supplies to support their families and small businesses.
Speaking during the outreach, the Founder of the Nikki Udezue Foundation, Nkiru Udezue, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to restoring hope to widows facing economic hardship. She explained that beneficiaries were identified through community-based assessments to ensure support reached the most vulnerable, particularly widows raising children without a stable source of income. Udezue encouraged the women to invest the grants in income-generating ventures, expressing hope that they would achieve financial independence and eventually empower others. She also called on governments, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the foundation in expanding its humanitarian interventions across the country.
