A non-governmental organisation, Open Hands Amazing Charitable Organization Inc., has announced plans to conduct a week-long free medical outreach in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across Benue and Taraba states. The programme is scheduled to begin on October 30, 2025. The initiative will provide healthcare services to vulnerable groups including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities—populations that often struggle with limited access to medicines and medical attention.
Founder of the NGO, Dr. Magdalene Agada, described the exercise as a humanitarian response to urgent health needs in displaced communities. “We are reaching out to IDP camps where extreme vulnerability exists—lack of access to medicines for children, women, the disabled and the elderly in forgotten communities across Nigeria,” she explained. Dr. Agada emphasized that her motivation was purely humanitarian. “This is not about wealth or seeking recognition but about compassion. Lives are fragile, and every effort to save them counts,” she noted. Open Hands Amazing Charitable Organization has previously donated essential health equipment to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and several state ministries of health, reinforcing its commitment to improving access to medical care. Appealing for broader collaboration, Dr. Agada called on individuals, organizations, and government institutions to support the outreach. “Together, we can sustain this mission of bringing healthcare to those who need it most,” she said, stressing that partnerships are crucial to improving health outcomes and delivering hope to vulnerable communities.
