Nestlé Nigeria has extended its flagship initiative, Nestlé Empowering Rural Women in Nigeria, to Agbara, Ogun State, welcoming 49 new female retailers into the program. Launched in 2021, the initiative aims to strengthen small businesses and improve livelihoods in underserved communities by equipping women with the tools to grow and sustain profitable retail ventures. With this latest addition, the program has now reached 431 women across nine locations in Nigeria.
Over the past five years, the initiative has helped more than 382 women expand their businesses, some by as much as threefold through tailored business training, product grants, and structured mentorship. Participants receive coaching in entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, merchandising, and customer service, along with access to personal mentors for three months. Each woman also receives product support to help grow her business sustainably. Nestlé’s continued investment in rural women highlights its commitment to inclusive growth and community development, helping more women achieve financial independence and drive local economic progress.
