Nest of Dreams Children’s Foundation to Train 150 Lagos Pupils in Free Vocational Skills Programme

The Nest of Dreams Children’s Foundation will provide free vocational and creative skills training to no fewer than 150 pupils from underserved communities in Lagos State through its SkillNest Technicals Summer Programme 2026, which begins on Monday, August 3.

The four-week holiday boot camp is designed to equip children with practical, creative and entrepreneurial skills through hands-on training in bead making, eco-friendly paper bag production, music, dance, painting and introductory cooking.

Founder of the foundation, Opeyemi Kotun, said the initiative complements classroom learning by helping children develop confidence, creativity and practical life skills needed for future self-reliance.

Established in 2025, the non-profit organisation focuses on education, mentorship and vocational development for children and young people in underserved communities. According to the foundation, the programme is part of its mission to bridge educational inequality by giving children early access to technical skills and mentorship.

Building on previous interventions in public schools across Gbagada, the foundation said qualified instructors would lead each training session to ensure participants receive quality guidance. It also appealed to corporate organisations, development partners and individuals to support the initiative through sponsorships for training materials, nutrition and exhibition logistics.
