 MTN Nigeria has hosted the Kano edition of its "100 Gathering" initiative, a youth-focused platform designed to connect young Nigerians, foster creativity and support innovative solutions to societal challenges. The event brought together entrepreneurs, artists, gamers, writers, content creators and innovators, providing opportunities to network, exchange ideas and showcase their talents.
Speaking at the event, MTN Nigeria's Senior Manager, Sales, Northeast Region, Abu-Sufyan Aliyu, said the initiative reflects the company's commitment to empowering young people by creating an ecosystem where they can collaborate, develop innovative ideas and build solutions that positively impact their communities. He noted that the programme, which has previously been held in Lagos, Enugu and Aba, celebrates the diversity and creativity of Nigerian youths across the country. As part of the event, winners of a pitch competition received grants to advance their businesses, with the top prize of ₦2.5 million, while the second and third-place winners received ₦1.5 million and ₦1 million, respectively. The overall winner, Samiat Yusuf, co-founder of Applicant, said her team's platform helps organisations streamline programme management by handling applications, participant selection, attendance tracking and real-time reporting. She said the funding would support product development, team expansion and wider adoption of the platform. MTN said the "100 Gathering" initiative will continue in other cities as part of efforts to empower young Nigerians, encourage innovation and amplify grassroots success stories.
