First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Friday unveiled the North Central Zone Women’s Empowerment Programme at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, reinforcing efforts to enhance women's economic independence and drive sustainable development. The initiative, led by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs), is set to benefit 18,500 women across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, starting with 500 beneficiaries from each state in the North Central region.
Aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the programme provides essential resources to support women in starting or expanding their businesses, ultimately contributing to economic growth. Items distributed include deep-chest freezers, gas cookers with ovens, generators, and industrial grinding machines. Delivering her keynote address, First Lady Tinubu highlighted the pivotal role of women in nation-building and emphasized that the initiative aligns with global development goals, particularly SDG-5 (gender equality) and SDG-8 (decent work and economic growth).
