The Federal Government of Nigeria has intensified efforts to empower young Nigerians through digital skills training, strategic partnerships and inclusive programmes aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities. The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, disclosed this during an interview with African Independent Television, where he highlighted the government’s renewed focus on transparency, impact and youth engagement.
A major part of the initiative is a partnership with The Digital School, backed by the United Arab Emirates, to train 50,000 Nigerian youths in digital skills. According to a statement signed by Omolara Esan, the programme is expected to produce at least 5,000 internationally certified and job-ready youths within six months. The minister also noted that the government is expanding internship, startup and agricultural support programmes through partnerships with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, National Information Technology Development Agency and the National Youth Service Corps.
