 In a major boost to grassroots economic development, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has disbursed financial empowerment packages to 1,085 petty traders in Dunukofia Local Government Area. Speaking at the event held at the Dunukofia Local Government Secretariat, Mrs. Soludo reaffirmed the critical role of women in family and community sustenance, describing them as the "pillars of the household" who shoulder significant economic responsibilities.
The beneficiaries, largely women engaged in small-scale table-top trading—locally referred to as Ndi Afia Table—received financial support aimed at expanding their businesses and improving their families' welfare. The empowerment initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort between Mrs. Soludo and philanthropists Prince Arthur Eze, a prominent oil magnate, and businessman Jim Martin Nwabueze. The First Lady expressed deep gratitude to both donors for their commitment to human development and their efforts toward alleviating poverty within the community.
