On Saturday, June 29th, 2024, the Adewunmi Desalu Parkinson’s Foundation (ADPF) organized an awareness walk to support people living with Parkinson’s disease. ADPF is a non-governmental organization that offers free diagnosis, medication, rehabilitation, and social support to people living with Parkinson’s disease. ADPF partnered with various organizations, including Halogen Group, TrapCAf (Transforming Parkinson’s Care in Africa), Fan Milk, Oleander Bake House, Parkinson’s Africa, Smile 360, and Giftello, to ensure the advocacy walk was a success. Their collaborative efforts highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about Parkinson’s disease and supporting individuals and families affected by it.
In an interview with NigerianNGO, the founder of ADPF, Mrs. Omorinsojo Desalu, shared her personal motivation for establishing the foundation and organizing the awareness walk. Having witnessed her husband’s 11-year battle with Parkinson’s, she realized many Nigerians were not properly educated about the disease. This inspired her to create a community where people could share their experiences and learn from each other. Mrs. Desalu emphasized the foundation’s commitment to providing timely medical interventions, access to neurologists and physiotherapists at the center. She also highlighted the support given to caregivers and families looking after a patient with Parkinson's. The foundation welcomes people 2-3 times a week, offering therapeutic activities like handwriting classes, boxing, and dance sessions aimed at building dopamine levels, crucial for Parkinson's patients. NigerianNGO also interviewed Mr. Farooq Oreagba, a cancer survivor and participant in the awareness walk. He expressed solidarity with the cause, recognizing from experience the mental and physical challenges of battling illnesses and the importance of fostering hope and support. The event showcased ADPF’s dedication to improving the lives of Parkinson’s patients and their caregivers while raising much-needed awareness in the community. NigerianNGO commends the Adewunmi Desalu Parkinson’s Foundation for their impactful work and contribution to creating a supportive environment for those affected by Parkinson’s disease. While medications offered some temporary help, the symptoms always returned and often worsened.Out of a mix of hope and hesitation, I decided to try an herbal treatment program from NaturePath Herbal Clinic. I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first. But around the fourth month, I began to notice real, steady progress.my tremors became less frequent the stiffness in my body eased My balance and coordination gradually improved It wasn’t an overnight transformation, but it was consistent and life changing. For the first time in years, I feel more in control of my body. I can move with greater freedom, sleep more peacefully, and enjoy daily activities without the constant discomfort I once accepted as normal. The improvement I’ve experienced physically, emotionally, and mentally has been nothing short of upliftings. If you're exploring natural options for managing Parkinson’s, I wholeheartedly recommend looking into NaturePath Herbal Clinic.
