95 Teenage Mothers, Out-of-School Girls to Graduate from VARCE Girls’ Learning Hub in Osun25/8/2025 In a significant step towards bridging the education gap for young girls in Osun State, 95 out-of-school girls and teenage mothers will graduate next week from the Value Re-Orientation for Community Enhancement (VARCE) Girls’ Learning Hub in Osogbo. The initiative, launched in 2023 by the non-governmental organisation Value Re-Orientation for Community Enhancement (VARCE), identified and enrolled 100 girls who had dropped out of school due to financial constraints. These students were provided with quality science education and technological training in a specially designed learning hub.
Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Thursday, VARCE’s Executive Director, Ademola Adebisi, described the graduation as a historic milestone in education and empowerment for young women in the state. “The achievements of these girls are truly remarkable,” Adebisi noted. “Out of 96 students set to graduate, 86 earned a minimum of nine credits, including Mathematics and English, while 89 obtained at least six distinctions in the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination.” He added that the success of the first graduating cohort reflects the organisation’s commitment to giving vulnerable girls a second chance at education and a pathway to a brighter future. The graduation ceremony is expected to draw community leaders, education stakeholders, and supporters of the programme to celebrate the achievements of the students and the impact of the VARCE Girls’ Learning Hub.
